An AI agent can build and manage your website
Our simple recipe: GitHub for code and history, Cloudflare for hosting, and an AI agent that builds, changes and maintains the site by voice. Free plans to start, no lock-in to an AI provider, Git platform or host.
Any capable AI agent can build and manage a website, with no coding required: free hosting within plan limits, free version history and rollbacks, building and editing by voice, custom domains, user accounts and payments. This is the recipe we use.
Step 1: GitHub
Create a free GitHub account. GitHub is where the website code, development tasks and complete change history live. Every saved version is tracked and can be restored. There is no need to learn GitHub: the agent explains which buttons to click to create a repository. Connect GitHub to the agent through its supported integration, an MCP connector or development tools. This works with local agents and with cloud agents such as ChatGPT, Grok or Claude Code, depending on their tools and permissions.
Step 2: Cloudflare
Create a free Cloudflare account. It provides the infrastructure: hosting within plan limits, a free subdomain, databases and file storage with free usage limits, backend functions and APIs, automatic deployments and custom domain support. A custom domain is optional and generally costs money. Connect the repository to Cloudflare for automatic deployments and give the agent access through supported tools, MCP or the API.
Step 3: talk to the agent
For example: “Create a website for me. Use my GitHub repository and deploy it to Cloudflare. Set up my domain, configure everything and make it ready to use.” Send screenshots, logos, reference sites or sketches, or simply describe the idea. An agent that can browse, analyze images, run code and use the connected services can build the project, commit it and deploy it. Some permissions, credentials and settings still need to be confirmed by the owner.
Step 4: the website keeps evolving
Changes are requested in plain words: a more modern homepage, registration and login, a personal dashboard for every user, a payment provider, a database, an admin panel, another language, restoring a previous version, connecting a domain. Payment processing and some third-party features have their own fees, and free infrastructure has usage limits.
No lock-in
- An existing site can be migrated to this setup, preserving design, content and functionality wherever technically possible.
- A private repository keeps the source code hidden; visitors see only the published website.
- Visibility to search engines and AI crawlers is a setting the agent can configure on request.
- The AI agent can be changed at any time: the new agent reads the code and the commit history and continues the work.
- GitHub can be replaced by GitLab, Gitea, Forgejo or a local Git server, and Cloudflare by another host; the code and history stay portable, although pipelines and integrations may need reconnecting.
Do not expect a perfect first version
The first version may be poor; it is a starting point. Then everything can be changed: text, images, sections or the whole concept. The owner makes the decisions, with the agent helping.
Checks are part of every update. Ask the agent to measure speed and performance, check every button and link, verify the key functions, mobile and desktop layouts, registration, login and payments, find broken pages and suggest improvements. And after every change, open the site yourself and use it like a real visitor. The agent is the developer, designer and checking assistant; the owner is the decision-maker and the final quality inspector.
What this means for a Box customer
- The same approach works with a local agent on the Box.
- The website code and history belong to the owner.
- Every change can be rolled back.
